about joyababy:
Founder and Designer, Joya Mukerjee Logue, wanted to mix bold prints, classic styling and modern function into the joyababy Collection. Much of her inspiration comes from her love of fashion and being a mother of two. The joyababy Collection hints at her ethnic background, including beautiful embroidered Indian elephants that adorn bibs and blankets, coordinating with the joyababy Diaper Clutch.
The joyababy Clutch, the joyababy 2-1 Reversible Travel Bib and Lux Blanket were designed featuring unique materials and innovative design. The goal with the bgreen Collection is to make travel and mobility easier while keeping the element of style. The decision to design a PVC-Free Collection was easy. It made sense to me and better yet to the parents and children who would use the joyababy Collection. Many happy parents and babies later, the joyababy bgreen Collection is loved for its innovation and eco-conscious style.
The joyababy Collection has been a must-have baby collection for new moms everywhere! Hollywood celebrities including Julia Roberts, Keri Russell, Marcia Cross, Tori Spelling, Halle Berry, Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie are just a few of the moms who tote the collection. Whether you are out for a stroll in the city or jet setting across the globe, the items in the collection are meant to enhance the style of the parents who spend their days with their lovely baby in tow.
about the designer:
When she was a young girl you would most likely find Joya playing with dolls, painting, sewing and dressing herself within her “own style”. Today, she is a wife, businesswoman and most importantly a mother of two handsome boys that keep her on her toes from sun up until sun down. She is an energetic and enthusiastic lover of life and beauty in the every day.
Design comes naturally to her and for years she has been creating, designing and entertaining for family and friends as a hobby. Joya's sense of style developed from an appreciation of the arts, the raw materials and the process of design itself. “I love fashion and believe that every design is a form of art. I like beautiful things that enhance either the person or the space. I continuously search for products that I would personally use, that offer thoughtful design and function, and of course add beauty. And when I cannot find them, I create them” She describes her sense of style as “fashion forward, eco-conscious, worldly, well made and beautiful”. She is inspired by her role as a mother, her love of fashion, vibrant colors, and travels to far away places, like her father's homeland of India.
After graduating with a degree in pre-med, Joya started on a career path in the sciences. It wasn't until her youngest son was diagnosed with severe food allergies at birth, that she decided to keep him under her care and quit her corporate job. It was in the midst of months of sleepless nights that she created joyababy. She already had envisioned the designs in her head and decided to take to the sewing machine to create her signature item: the joyababy clutch (now a hit product with moms everywhere)!
“On any given day, at any moment, I usually have at least three new designs sketched into my head! I do not require a lot of sleep, which is kind of a joke with family and friends, as I am likely to respond to emails at 2 am. I didn't realize how strong of a work ethic I have until I started my own company. This is something I want to pass on to my sons.”
Joyababy is more than a stylish collection of “must-haves” for parents, it is the beginning of a lifestyle brand that will continue to grow and give back to those in need around the world. Giving back is important to Joya personally: “Every time I step foot onto the soil of India, I am reminded of the beauty and richness of the culture to which I am a part, and at the same time, the severe poverty that exists. It is because of this feeling and need, that joyababy will continue on a path of philanthropy.” We are continuously looking into ways to give back to those in need around the world. We must all remember that the way we look into our children's eyes, is the same way all mothers around the world look into their own children's eyes. We are more similar, than we are different.
Joya lives in the windy city of Chicago with her husband and two sons.
